The Packaging Day (“Tag der Verpackung”) affords the industry an outstanding opportunity to inspire young people to pursue a career in packaging economics. We use this dedicated annual event to attract them to the many professions available in the industry. For this, we continuously establish new partnerships and collaborations with schools near our production locations – for example with the Damme secondary school in Lower Saxony, who we have been cooperating with since 2017.
Like last year, the 2018 Packaging Day was hosted on 07 June under the heading “Flexible Packaging is catching on”. It served as a continuation of the project we launched with the Damme secondary school in the previous year. In 2017, the 9th grade students were provided the rare opportunity to take a look around our production at the ppg > flexofilm GmbH in Holdorf, Germany. Afterwards, they were able to discuss the relevant aspects of packaging production with regard to ecological, economic and social sustainability with Dirk Stolte, Head of Application Engineering at ppg >.
At the 2018 Packaging Day, the students were able to build upon the insights gathered in the previous year. The follow-up workshop placed a particular focus on the procurement, production and sales of flexible packaging. The cooperation with the school is supported by NiEKE – the Lower Saxony Centre of Excellence for Nutritional Science – and the University of Vechta.
